Island Book One: Shipwrecked by Gordon Korman

Book Summary:Will, Lyssa, Ian, JJ, Charla, and Luke are stuck on a boat on a program called CNC ("Charting A New Course") and they all have one thing in common: none of them want to be there.

"Bridge To Terabithia" by Katherine Paterson

Book History: Bridge to Terabitha takes readers to another land... a land of imagination. This journey to Terabithia takes on many levels. Originally written for Katherine's son David, this sad, but heart-warming book is a Newbery Winner and has been in circulation for over 30 years! In 2007, the book was again reprinted for the movie Bridge to Terabithia.

Book Summary: Jesse Aaron's goal was too be the fastest kid in school. He'd be eagerly waiting for the first day of school when he would get to race at recess. When the race takes place, the new girl, Leslie Burke, beats them all. Running effortlessly to the finish line, Leslie shatters Jesse's hopes of winning. Little does he realize, Leslie will soon become his best friend.

The two friends happen to be neighbors. When they come home from school they run into the forest where Leslie shows them a new world. With Jesse's art and Leslie's imagination, they create a world that Leslie calls "Terabithia."

On Leslie's birthday, she gets a dog she calls Prince Terrian, the official Prince of Terabithia. As they create new characters in their world and expand their imagination, everything seems perfect. Then the day comes where Jesse wakes up and declares that it is the "perfect day." The perfect day is followed by the worst evening, as Jesse must content with a recent tragedy, he also is forced to remember the gift that Leslie has given him. It is up to him to build the bridge to Terabithia and share this gift with others.

"Eragon" by Christopher Paolini

Book Summary:Eragon is the first book of the "Inheritance Trilogy" by Christopher Paolini. In this adventure novel of fantasy and magic and suspense, readers will find themselves wanting more as they discover more plot twists. It takes place in a land called the Alegaesia where dragons haven't been seen for a long time. When an elf named Arya is cornered in a forest with a magical blue stone, she is forced to teleport it to safer grounds.

... In the outskirts of Carvahall, Eragon tracks down a deer in the forest when a strange smoke appears and he finds a blue stone. Not realizing that this blue stone is really a dragon egg, he takes it home, and soon finds that it hatches into a new baby dragon.

When Eragon finds out that he has been chosen to be the next dragon rider and his dragon, Saphira, is going to help him, he must step up to the challenge. Eragon and Saphira travel with Brom, a local storyteller, to escape from the Ra'zac, minions of the evil ruler Galbatorix. As the three travel and train, Eragon learns what it means to be a real dragon rider and use magic...
