When the race takes place, the new girl, Leslie Burke, beats them all. Running effortlessly to the finish line, Leslie shatters Jesse's hopes of winning. Little does he realize, Leslie will soon become his best friend.
The two friends happen to be neighbors. When they come home from school they run into the forest where Leslie shows them a new world. With Jesse's art and Leslie's imagination, they create a world that Leslie calls "Terabithia."
On Leslie's birthday, she gets a dog she calls Prince Terrian, the official Prince of Terabithia. As they create new characters in their world and expand their imagination, everything seems perfect. "Eragon" by Christopher Paolini
